DigitalChalk provides the following chalkboard layouts:

  • Large Video - A large video player with a smaller notes and chapters section, no window for slides
  • Audio Only - A large slides area with a smaller notes and chapters section, no video player
  • Video Only - Full-screen video player, without slides, notes, or chapters
  • Small Video - A small video player and a larger slides area with a smaller notes and chapters section


The DigitalChalk default chalkboard layout is Small Video.  If you want to use a different chalkboard layout, you can change it at the organization level, the course level, or for individual chalkboard elements within a course.


If you want to select a chalkboard layout to use for the majority of chalkboard elements in all your courses, set the default layout at the organization level.

  • Click the Administration tab, then click My Organization from the System Management list. The Edit Organization Details window is displayed with a task list.
  • Click Chalkboard Layout from the task list.  The Edit Chalkboard Layout Defaults window is displayed.


  • Select the radio button for the layout you want to use and click the Save button. The Inherited layout is your current chalkboard layout default.

If you want to select a chalkboard layout to use for the majority of all chalkboard elements in your courses, set the default layout at the course level.

  • Click the Manage Course tab. The Courses list is displayed.
  • Click on the name of the course.  The Edit Course Details window is displayed with a task list.
  • Click the Chalkboard Layout from the task list.  The Set the Default Chalkboard Layout window is displayed. 


  • Select the radio button for the layout you want to use and click the Save button. The Inherited layout is your current chalkboard layout default.


Changing the layout of an existing chalkboard


If you want to change the chalkboard layout for a specific chalkboard within a course:

  • Click the Manage Courses tab.  The Courses list is displayed.
  • Click on the name of the course.  The Edit Course Details window is displayed with a task list.
  • Click Manage Course Elements from the list.  
 


  • The Elements list for the course is displayed.
  • Click on the name of chalkboard you want to change.  The Edit Element Details window is displayed with a task list.
  • Click Edit Chalkboard.  If you have activated the chalkboard element, click Edit the Live Version.


  • The chalkboard is displayed.  Click Layout.



  • The chalkboard is displayed with the Chalkboard Layouts window.


  • Select the radio button for the layout you want to use and click the Save button. The Inherited layout is your current chalkboard layout default.
