A Web Archive element at the technical level is called an iFrame. YouTube does not allow their pages to be displayed within an iFrame therefore you cannot simply reference a YouTube page link in a Web Archive element. However, you can add an embedded YouTube video, the process is just a little bit more involved. Here's how to do it:
- Go to the YouTube page that contains the video you would like to use
- for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6Sh57fOrf4
- Capture the YouTube video ID from the URL in the browser address bar
- Download the file: dc-WAexample.html which is attached to the bottom of this tip. After downloading you can open the file using your preferred html editor
- If you're a PC user we recommend using Notepad++ or native Notepad in Windows
- If you're a Mac user we recommend Sublime Text
- Replace the YouTube video ID contained within the attached html file with the YouTube ID for your video
- Save the changes to your html file and then zip the file
